We are excited to be supporting our client, a transport provider in the Hinckley area, with their recruitment of a Carrier Manager.

 

The role:

A results driven and proactive carrier manager, you will be responsible for recruiting, onboarding and managing a network of haulier partners. Playing a key role in expanding the carrier base, you will ensure compliance with legal and operational standards and drive efficiency across logistics operations.

Your work will directly support business growth by building strong partnerships, maintaining high service standards, and helping deliver sustainable, cost-effective transport solutions.

Carrier Recruitment & Expansion

  • Grow and diversify the haulier network through advertising, referrals, networking and market research.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Marketing teams to align carrier recruitment with new business opportunities and tender requirements.

Resource & Relationship Management

  • Monitor and manage regional resource levels to ensure operational capacity.
  • Maintain an up-to-date, searchable haulier database for quick and efficient access to carrier information.
  • Build long-term, collaborative relationships with haulier partners to strengthen loyalty and service reliability.

Onboarding & Compliance

  • Lead the onboarding process for new hauliers, ensuring smooth integration with transport management and real-time vehicle tracking systems.
  • Maintain accurate carrier data across all relevant systems.
  • Oversee compliance with safety, legal, and insurance standards.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews to ensure ongoing adherence to operational and service-level expectations.

Cost & Efficiency

  • Work with Operations to ensure carrier rates are competitive and aligned with commercial targets.
  • Support sustainability goals by engaging low-emission carriers and promoting greener logistics initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize carrier utilization and reduce overall transport costs.

 

The person:

You will be proficient in Microsoft Office, with the ability to quickly learn new transport management systems. Having worked in a similar role before, you will have a deep knowledge of the UK transport and haulage industry, including vehicle types.

In addition, you will have a thorough understanding of operator licensing and insurance regulations along with great geographical knowledge of the UK. Strong negotiation skills are expected along with relationship management skills and the ability to build rapport ongoing relationships.
