Job Description: Class 2 Driver

Overview

We’re looking for a dedicated and professional Class 2 Driver to join our Hessle based client. If you have a passion for driving, delivering excellent customer service, and working efficiently, this role could be perfect for you. You will primarily oversee deliveries around Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. This is a Temp to Perm position with competitive pay. Pay and Hours

  • Pay Rate: £13.50 per hour
  • Core Hours: 8am-5pm Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
  • Additional hours on a Monday and Friday as and when required

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a Class 2 vehicle to deliver goods across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.
  • Perform vehicle checks to ensure road worthiness in compliance with both company and legal standards.
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods to designated locations.
  • Complete all delivery paperwork accurately and ensure delivery protocols are followed.
  • Support manual handling tasks (some handball work involved), ensuring items are handled with care and respect for health and safety standards.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with the logistics team, customers, and other stakeholders.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures, as well as all road traffic laws and regulations.
  • Represent the company professionally during all interactions with customers and the public.

Qualifications

  • Essential:
    • Valid Class C (Class 2) UK driving licence with no major endorsements.
    • CPC (Driver Certificate of Professional Competence).
    • A valid Tacho Card.
    • Proven experience in a similar driving role.
  • Preferred:
    • Forklift licence (advantage but not essential).
    • Knowledge of the Yorkshire and Lincolnshire areas.
    • Experience with handball or manual handling.
    • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • A positive attitude towards teamwork and the ability to maintain composure under pressure.
  • Commitment to upholding safety standards and operational excellence.

Day-to-Day

  • Start the day by completing a thorough vehicle inspection and ensuring all required paperwork is in order.
  • Collect goods from the depot and plan efficient routes for timely deliveries.
  • Deliver goods safely and professionally while managing any necessary manual handling.
  • Regularly check in with the logistics team for updates and route adjustments.
  • Resolve delivery issues on the go, such as delays, while maintaining communication with customers.
  • End the day by safely returning the vehicle, documenting delivery logs, and reporting any maintenance needs.
