Responsibilities
As a Class 2 Tramping Driver, your key duties will include:
- Driving and operating Class 2 Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGV) in compliance with road traffic regulations and company policies.
- Transporting goods to delivery points safely and on time.
- Conducting pre- and post-journey vehicle checks to ensure roadworthiness.
- Securing cargo safely to prevent shifting during transit.
- Accurately completing relevant documentation and delivery records.
- Liaising professionally with customers, clients, and warehouse teams to handle pickups and deliveries.
- Following environmental and sustainability guidelines while on the road.
- Adhering to all health, safety, and compliance requirements.
- Being prepared to utilise overnight accommodations as part of the tramping role.
Shift Pattern
As part of the tramping lifestyle, drivers will work the following structured shift pattern:
- Monday 12:00 PM to Tuesday 6:00 PM
- Wednesday 12:00 PM to Thursday 6:00 AM
Overnight stays are required on these shifts due to tramping, and you will receive a £25 shift bonus per shift for your dedication.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, our client is looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:
- A valid UK Class 2 (Category C) HGV Licence.
- Driver CPC qualification and Tachograph Card.
- Previous experience driving Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGV) in a professional capacity.
- Proven knowledge of UK road networks and regulations.
- Ability to lift and secure loads in a safe manner.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with diverse teams.
- Proven ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and adapt to a tramping lifestyle.
- A commitment to safety, efficiency, and delivering excellent customer service.
Day-to-Day
Each day as a Class 2 Tramping Driver may include:
- Conducting pre-departure vehicle inspections.
- Planning efficient delivery routes and ensuring compliance with driving hour regulations.
- Delivering and decanting goods to clients and liaising with them courteously and professionally.
- Staying overnight at designated locations as required for tramping duties.
- Regularly updating logistics teams and reporting any incidents or delays.
- Being vigilant about road safety and fuel efficiency.
- Completing daily vehicle logs and maintenance reports accurately.
