Job Title: CNC Operator and Programmer

Weekly Hours: 41 hours per week
Schedule:
- Monday to Thursday: 7:00 am - 4:30 pm
- Friday: 7:00 am - 12:00 pm
Salary: £12.46 - £13.00/hour (this can also be discussed during interview)
Skilled Role:
We are actively seeking a highly skilled CNC Operator and Programmer to join our diverse and driven team. As part of this role, you will perform crucial responsibilities in operating and programming CNC machinery for precision-based manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have expertise with machinery strategies, passion for maintaining high-quality standards, and proficiency in working with timber.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up, operate, and optimise CNC machines to meet production and quality targets
- Program, modify, and improve machining strategies to enhance performance and output
- Select, set, and monitor tooling; document tool life and maintain cutting schedules
- Use precision measuring equipment (verniers, micrometers) to ensure quality standards
- Perform routine machine maintenance and daily housekeeping
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and problem-solving activities
- Communicate effectively with suppliers, management, and production teams
- Train and support new CNC operators in line with best practices
- Work independently or as part of a team; provide flexible support across production areas
- Comply with health, safety, and operational procedures
Skills and Qualifications:
To thrive in this role, you will need the following:
- Proven experience in CNC machine operation and programming.
- Programming experience using Xilog/Maestro is required.
- Parametric programming knowledge is desirable in qualifications and experience.
- In-depth understanding of CNC router/milling machinery and the operational processes involved.
- Knowledge and experience working with timber materials in a manufacturing or workshop setting.
- Strong ability to innovate and modify CNC machining strategies to improve production processes.
- Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills.
- A driven and proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous learning.
