We are looking for a Factory Operative with experience working with steel to join a well-established company based in the Walsall/Aldridge area. Our company specializes in steel components, frameworks, and construction solutions. This role is ideal for someone who has a background in working with steel and is ready to contribute to high-quality projects in a fast-paced factory setting.

Responsibilities

  • Handling, fabricating, and assembling steel components in a factory environment.
  • Operating machinery and tools used in steelwork, including cutting, shaping, and finishing equipment.
  • Reading and interpreting technical drawings to ensure accurate production and assembly of steel parts.
  • Conducting quality checks on materials and finished products to meet specified standards.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe workspace, adhering to all health and safety protocols.
  • Assisting with loading and unloading steel materials for projects or deliveries.
  • Communicating effectively with supervisors and team members to meet production goals.

Qualifications

  • Must have experience working with steel in a factory, workshop, or construction setting.
  • Ability to read and work from technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Familiarity with operating steel fabrication machinery (e.g., cutting, welding, or bending equipment).
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations, particularly in handling heavy steel materials.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision.
  • Physical fitness to handle the demands of the role, including lifting and moving steel components.
  • A team player with a proactive attitude and a willingness to learn.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in metal or steelwork are advantageous but not required.

Day-to-Day

  • Preparing materials for fabrication and processing steel components as per specifications.
  • Using tools and machinery to cut, shape, and assemble steel products.
  • Inspecting completed items to ensure quality control.
  • Assisting with equipment maintenance and ensuring tools are in good working condition.
  • Keeping the factory workspace organized and safe to promote efficient work.
  • Supporting colleagues and management to meet production targets.
