Responsibilities

As part of the Food Production team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in the preparation of vegetables and other ingredients for production, such as washing, chopping, and measuring.
  • Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe preparation and production area.
  • Following all food safety regulations and adhering to hygiene practices to ensure compliance and safety standards.
  • Supporting cross-functional teams by collaborating and communicating effectively during food preparation.
  • Helping with the setup and breakdown of workstations, preparing tools, and cleaning equipment as required.
  • Operating basic machinery related to food preparation, including ensuring safety and maintenance protocols are met.
  • Monitoring ingredient quality and reporting any concerns or discrepancies to the supervisor.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • No prior experience is required - full training will be provided for the right candidate.
  • A proactive and positive attitude towards teamwork and problem-solving.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with a diverse team.
  • Willingness to follow strict hygiene and safety guidelines.
  • Ability to work on your feet for extended periods in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing duties and schedules as required.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in food preparation, production, or a related field is advantageous (but not essential).
  • Basic knowledge of food safety practices and standards is ideal.
  • A food hygiene certification is a plus (however, training can be provided if needed).

Day-to-Day

A typical day as a Food Production Operative includes:

  • Setting up the production station and preparing ingredients required for the day's operations.
  • Cleaning and organising workstation equipment to ensure hygiene compliance.
  • Washing, cutting, and measuring ingredients per specified guidelines.
  • Collaborating with team members to facilitate an efficient and smooth production process.
  • Ensuring proper storage of fresh produce and ingredients in accordance with food safety regulations.
  • Participating in routine cleaning and maintenance duties at the end of the shift.
  • Supporting ongoing production improvement initiatives and identifying ways to optimise efficiency in the workplace.
