We are proud to be the UK's leading supplier of rope-grown mussels and cultivated Pacific oysters, producing premium-quality shellfish from the pristine waters of the West Coast of Scotland and the Shetland Isles. As a cooperative, our farmers play a vital role in every aspect of the business, ensuring exceptional quality and care throughout the cultivation process. With an expanding business, we are looking for an experienced and dedicated individual to lead and optimise production operations.

**Responsibilities Of A Food Production Team Leader

As the Food Production Team Leader, your responsibilities will include:

  • Evaluating production plans and setting up production lines accordingly.
  • Ensuring all operations are carried out in compliance with specifications and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Monitoring productivity and quality to maximise efficiency.
  • Identifying and resolving production issues promptly.
  • Maintaining accurate records of throughput, efficiency, and order planning.
  • Training and supervising new production staff.
  • Ensuring a safe, clean, and operational work environment at all times.
  • Following company policies and complying with industry regulations.
  • Collaborating with the Production Manager to provide routine updates and escalate any concerns.
  • Developing relevant functional skills through participation in company training programs.
  • Demonstrating a proactive approach towards health and safety, adhering to company policies, and ensuring safety within factory areas.

**Qualifications For A Food Production Team Leader

Main Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Line Leader is preferred but not essential.
  • Strong understanding of product manufacturing, specifications, production standards, and relevant regulations.
  • Proficiency in using computers/tablets and working with office software.
  • Strong leadership, organisational, and time-management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to foster a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.

**Desirable Skills Of A Food Production Team Leader

  • Experience in Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) environments.
  • Access to personal transport is helpful (site also accessible via public transport).

**Day-to-Day Of A Food Production Team Leader

Your daily schedule will include:

  • Evaluating and preparing the production line to meet production plans.
  • Overseeing daily operations and providing guidance to team members.
  • Monitoring productivity and managing quality control checks.
  • Supporting and mentoring new staff members, ensuring they receive appropriate training and guidance.
  • Consistently communicating updates with the Production Manager.
  • Keeping the work environment clean, compliant, and safe for all staff.

Working Hours

  • Monday to Friday: 5:15 am - 1:45 pm

Compensation and Benefits

  • Hourly Rate: £13.68-£14.42 per hour  (Increases once you have completed your 12 week probation period)
  • Overtime Pay:
    • Monday to Saturday: 1.5x hourly rate
    • Sunday: 2x hourly rate
