Machine Setter

Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Machine Setter to join our well established Plastic Moulding Company. This role will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of injection moulding processes, optimising machine performance, and maintaining high-quality production standards. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting production efficiency, delivering excellent results, and fostering a safe and organised work environment.

 


Responsibilities

  • Optimise and deliver injection moulding parameters in alignment with business goals.
  • Conduct tool changes efficiently and ensure adherence to the moulding plan schedule.
  • Support new tool trials to ensure successful implementation.
  • Optimise robot and ancillary equipment to enhance output and reduce costs.
  • Maintain 5S (Housekeeping) and adhere to Health & Safety standards during tool changes.
  • Work actively to minimise scrap material, tool change times, and improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) percentages.
  • Conduct fault analysis and troubleshooting for complex issues in collaboration with the maintenance team.
  • Write and implement setting sheets and robot programs.
  • Perform machine restarts when trained and authorised to do so.
  • Conduct Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) to ensure production continuity.
  • Load appropriate machine and robot programs, ensuring a stable and efficient production process.
  • Produce first-off samples for quality checks and ensure Quality Department approval to the agreed standard.
  • Perform and document guard checks, reporting any issues to the Maintenance Department.
  • Inspect mould tool equipment and machines to confirm readiness for the next run, escalating any non-conformance to the Operations Manager.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Machine Setter or similar role in an injection moulding environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of injection moulding processes and equipment.
  • Hands-on experience with robot programming and ancillary equipment operation.
  • Familiarity with 5S, Health & Safety regulations, and TPM practices.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to perform advanced fault analysis.
  • Commitment to reducing waste and improving operational efficiency.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to escalate issues effectively.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

 


 

- 40 hours per week, shift pattern 6am-2pm and 2pm-10pm (with occasional night shift required to support production) 

- Some out of office hours may be required to support the customer on occasions. 

- You will be on call-out and may be required to attend site to rectify moulding issues. 

- Occasional travel may be required to both customers and training development activities. 

- A flexible approach will be expected to working hours as and when the business needs. 

- Any other reasonable duties outside normal as required.
