The Company
Our client, a leading packaging provider with facilities worldwide are looking for a Multi skilled lead shift engineer to join their dynamic team.
The role
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of engineers in maintaining and repairing equipment on a continuous production line. You'll be responsible for diagnosing faults, overseeing preventative maintenance, and ensuring the reliability of critical plant operations.
You'll also play a vital role in driving performance improvements, supporting production teams, and ensuring engineering excellence across all areas of the site.
- Lead daily engineering operations on shift, ensuring smooth handovers and accurate documentation.
- Support the team in managing breakdowns, fault diagnosis, and repair of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Maintain and improve the performance of all plant and equipment through planned preventative maintenance (PPM).
- Mentor and coach shift engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
- Ensure shift KPIs are met, 5S standards are maintained, and improvement plans are in place.
- Collaborate closely with Production to align maintenance activities with operational needs.
- Support new equipment installations and commissioning with Tool Room Engineers.
- Identify and implement engineering solutions to increase plant efficiency and reduce downtime.
- Coordinate with contractors and suppliers for external engineering support as required.
- Maintain technical records and ensure all maintenance logs are up to date.
- Manage spare parts and consumables to support engineering activities.
- Uphold the highest standards of Health & Safety and operational compliance.
The person
18th Edition Wiring Regulations (Required)
Apprentice-trained or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical or Multi-Skilled Engineering
Proven experience with plant maintenance and repair in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Strong technical understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings (electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic)
Experience leading engineering teams and coordinating workload effectively
Strong communication and organisational skills, with a focus on detailed handovers and accurate reporting
A commitment to health and safety and safe systems of work
Previous experience in plastic injection moulding
