Our client, a leading packaging provider with facilities worldwide are looking for a Multi skilled shift engineer to join their dynamic team.
The role
In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and improving a range of manufacturing equipment in a continuous production environment. You'll play a vital part in ensuring operational efficiency through rapid response to breakdowns, effective fault diagnosis, and consistent delivery of preventative maintenance.
This is a shift-based role where teamwork, attention to detail and a strong mechanical and electrical skillset are key to success.
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to and promote 5S standards across both machines and workshop areas
- Complete all scheduled Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks on time
- Support the Production team by aligning engineering actions with manufacturing plans
- Respond quickly to breakdowns, diagnose faults, and replace faulty components
- Repair and resolve hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical issues
- Maintain plant, equipment, and services according to the PPM schedule
- Update and manage maintenance logs accurately and in a timely manner
- Assist in the installation and commissioning of new machinery
- Participate in continuous improvement and efficiency projects during downtime
- Liaise with external contractors and suppliers for breakdowns, maintenance, and upgrades
- Organise and maintain the engineering technical database
- Order and manage spare parts and consumables for engineering activities
- Work closely with Production, Tool Change, and Tool Room teams to meet operational goals
- Ensure all work complies with Engineering and Health & Safety standards
- Carry out any other duties assigned by management
The person
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (essential)
- Apprentice-trained in Mechatronics or equivalent Level 3 NVQ in Electrical or Multi-skilled Engineering
- Strong hands-on experience in plant maintenance, including hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings (electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic)
- Capable of working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines in a growing business
- A proactive attitude with a strong commitment to safety and operational excellence
- Previous experience in a plastic injection moulding environment
