Job Title: Yard Labourer

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and hard-working Yard Labourer to join our Hessle based client. This role involves physical, hands-on work and requires a motivated individual who thrives in an outdoor environment and has an eye for precision. As part of our inclusive and diverse team, you will contribute to the preparation and movement of metal materials, ensuring the smooth operation of our yard activities.  The position is offered on a temp-to-perm basis, making it an excellent opportunity for someone looking to secure long-term employment. This position is ideal for someone comfortable with manual labour and confident in using tools and equipment essential to the job.

Due to the location, having a driving licence will be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Perform manual lifting, cutting, and bending of metal bars, ensuring adherence to safety standards and company guidelines.
• Operate a counterbalance forklift to move and organize metal mesh frames in the yard.
• Accurately measure materials using a tape measure to meet required specifications.
• Assist with loading and unloading materials, ensuring they are stored and handled safely.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free yard environment at all times.
• Adapt to working outdoors in all weather conditions while following health and safety practices.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure efficient operations and timely task completion.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a physically demanding, outdoor environment.
• Ability to lift and handle heavy materials, with a commitment to adhering to proper safety protocols.
• Knowledge and experience in the cutting and bending of metal bars are highly desirable.
• Proficiency in the accurate use of a tape measure for precise measurements.
• Valid counterbalance forklift license and demonstrated experience using a forklift.
• Strong work ethic, punctuality, and a proactive approach to work.
• Ability to follow instructions and work well within a team.
• Flexibility and resilience to handle diverse tasks and weather conditions effectively.
• Passionate about maintaining an inclusive and respectful workplace culture.

Day-to-Day

• Begin the day by assessing and prioritizing tasks for the yard, including metal preparation and organization.
• Use tools and equipment, such as cutting or bending devices and tape measures, to complete specific duties.
• Operate the counterbalance forklift to manoeuvre heavy materials safely and efficiently.
• Collaborate with the team to meet daily output and operational goals.
• Monitor and maintain yard cleanliness and order to avoid hazards.
• Adapt to any additional tasks assigned by the supervisor as operations demand.
• End the day by completing safety checks and documentation as required.

Pay Rate

• £12.21-£13 per hour (Dependent on Experience)

Working Hours

• 8am-5pm, Monday to Friday
