Role Overview as a maintenance engineer
This apprenticeship will provide practical experience in general site maintenance while developing expertise in installation, maintenance, repair, and record-keeping of manufacturing plant and equipment. Full training will be provided to ensure you reach the required industry standards.
Key Responsibilities as a maintenance engineer
- Assist the Engineering Supervisor and team with site maintenance, including tank systems, fluid flow meters, pumps, valves, and pipework installations and repairs.
- Support Site Engineers in maintaining specialized hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical equipment.
- Assist with onsite inspections, ensuring all documentation is up to date and compliant with industry requirements.
- Comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations while working on-site.
- Support projects assigned by the Engineering Supervisor, aligned with apprenticeship training requirements.
- Participate in routine daily operations, maintaining high site safety standards.
- Assist with shipping discharge duties, including ensuring pipelines are connected correctly, performing pressure tests, monitoring operations, and recording findings.
What We’re Looking For as a maintenance engineer
Education & Knowledge
- GCSE qualifications in Maths, English, and Science (Grade C or above).
- Basic understanding of engineering principles.
Skills & Experience as a maintenance engineer
- Awareness of Health & Safety best practices.
- Strong listening and learning skills.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Good communication skills and a confident approach.
